Nothing Happens, Twice

Jenna Cardinale

Stir the ice as if it matters.

The sound matters. It fills

the inside of this fling.

The clink will make me less

like merchandise.

Stitch red string around

one of my longer fingers.

The price of this ring

is forever. I'll say it again.

Red is usually the color of sacrifice.
