     :The Hole in the Sky:

Nate Pritts

Walking home when the sky was the cool purple
of night, Red noticed & directed our attention to a hole
opening. "Look!" was what he said
to get us to share his startled & uncertain perception
of the hole opening up in the sky.

Suddenly, long yellow tentacles dropped from the hole
& wrapped around us. They pulled us into the sky,
closer & closer to the hole that floated in the vast purpley
vastness. I considered the question of perception
& wondered aloud: "This might be a good thing," I said.
