100 Splendid Words For the Loneliness Without You

Lorna Dee Cervantes

Splendid, you are, in your
lair. Splendid in your hair,
the fuzz cut and fur
there. Splendid, you are, between
bare thighs, the rise under
the ridge, that splendid fig.
You were such a figment
of my intent, My Fish,
My Snare, My One that's
Not Away — though I dare
to call you there; splendid
in your full extension; my
own sure cure for love-
soldiering, sole hunting in valleys
of loneliness, rallying through songs
and flowers (not as splendid
as you.) Splendid in your
honesty of a nail, truthful
as bark. Love, the splendid
cat splay of you. Basking.
