Wonder Woman Hauls the Laundry to the Wash-o-Matic

Wendy Babiak

Of course the Hall of Justice, made by men

lacks the needed hookups for washing machines

the act of cleaning clothes beyond their ken

or outside what they see as their routine.

It's true that they would wear their clothes unwashed.

It's only me who's bothered by the smell

or notices the stain from where they sloshed

the sauce while cooking, sweet with muscatel

or cares that when we dry our hands on towels

they not transmit disease-producing bugs

or when the sheets with too much use get foul.

So I'm the one who loads them up and lugs

all our things down to the laundromat.

I'll find a nice old lady, and we'll chat.
