Deborah Poe

16
for J.H. and P.D.

beautiful yellow
encrustation
natural crystal
whatever natural
yokes together
often violently
the social body

expression’s violence
the vast architecture
fats, body fluids,
skeletal minerals
meteorites, hot springs,
gypsum, volcanoes

the element of war
a relationship between
obliterate, beginning

erase write
open open up

the unmistakable smell of brimstone

exceptional gunpowder ingredient

highly charged, contradictory

the architecture of exceptionalism
grows big and dumb and strong
