Elizabeth Bradfield

A week unceilinged
and all I wrote were lists:
birds and mammals (to
remember) things home
that must be attended (to
forget). Blue of sky
and water. Grey of sky and
water (rain). I was there.
There was no order
of importance to thought:
bird. prow. school of smelt. fucus
popping underfoot at tideline.
library books due. the tub
caulking faulty. Words lost
to the untranslatable
body.
