A Brief History of Chalk

Joshua Marie Wilkinson

the radio yellowing

our adages asks
us to steady, to steal without

we swim when we are
asleep no
clumsy moon
to chalk

up
the doorway where they'd

held an umbrella over the developing
tubs are listening
& writing

us down it
scores the wax in

your sister's reparation

what locksmiths us
into defenestration
& opens the hex
