Shirley Stephenson's poems have appeared in Sonora Review, Black Warrior Review, Quarterly West, Hayden's Ferry Review, North American Review, New Letters, Born Magazine, Crazyhorse, and others. She has received two Pushcart nominations and was recently awarded an Artists Fellowship from the Illinois Arts Council. She's a former editor of Indiana Review. She lives in Chicago, and works at The Poetry Center. She recently used hairspray to lacquer an invading parade of ants in a roadside motel that turned out to be far below the standards of No Tell Motel.
