About the Poems - ADAbout the Poemsby Adam Deutsch The pleasure of the ode is that it moves the focus from one's self (specifically small 's') toward a loving devotion to another–sometimes people, but in the case of these poems, objects. In the process, it's unavoidable–and why would anyone want to avoid it anyway?–that homage is paid to, at the very least, Keats and Neruda. Transcendence through objects. A tradition with the intention to explore and express unconditional love. I wish that was at the heart of all poems; I pray that all the poems I write manifest from that intention. |
